To all my friends, writerly and otherwise (and you know who you are)

Thank you for all your support. In a moment of insanity, I listened to

lanynand signed up for NaNoWriMo. Then I sobered up. ;-)

Seriously, I am rather enjoying participating in NaNo. I managed to get my word count just a bit over 5K tonight, and even though my fingers are itching to go back and edit, I won't.

(Partially because

lanynhas threatened dire consequences if I do, but still.....)

So thank you, friends. Onward and upward!! Even if I don't make 50K this time out, I'm writing shiny new words, and that's always a good thing, right? Right??

Really, who needs botox?

Write fanfic instead. After repeated meetings of head with desk, your forehead will be completely numb and unable to form even the slightest wrinkle.

On the upside, I now have a nice little indentation on my computer desk that holds my cereal bowl perfectly. :-)

Nothin' could be finer

I went on my first vacation in, I kid you not, 20 years weekend before last.

And I had a BLAST! I finally got to meet

lanyn , and also got to see

hamlettethedame again as well! The weekend was spent with several other friends from across the country, and one friend from Canada and one from Australia. I can promise you that it was a vacation that I will never forget. :D

As if that gathering wasn't pure awesomeness, I was finally able to finish a Mag7 story tonight that has been bugging the crap out of me for at least the last 5 years. Okay, the last 5 months, but they seemed much, much longer. Said story will be sent off to my wonderful friend,

winks7985 for a quick beta read, then will take a spot on Jordan's wonderful site: www.jordanmckenzie.com.

So all in all the last two weeks have been great! But my time with my cowboys is on hold now as I must go play with my soljers for a bit.

After all, you can't say no to a soldier. ;-)

Riddle me this

A friend and I were discussing a while back how things said in emails or instant messages can sometimes be taken the wrong way, as you can't see facial expressions or hear tone of voice.

This makes sense, to a degree. But it's my opinion that we are all actors to a certain extent. So how do we know, beyond reasonable doubt, that in a face to face meeting the other person isn't merely playing a role?

Enough with the pity party, already

It's a gorgeous day today and the maudlin crap of yesterday has been swept out the door. :D

And it's taken me several attempts, I've finally learned how to create a landscape collage as opposed to a portrait one. It's not perfect, but I'm working at it. ;-)

With a nod to Tillane

After way too many years, we finally have an awesome rock radio station where I live. No more Hannah-freakin'-Montana. :D

Anyhoo, as I said, with a nod to

tillane and his gracious sharing of music, here's my new favorite song. I admit, freely, that back in the day of mile-high hair and leg warmers, I was a fan of Wham!. However, I'm a bigger fan of Seether, and cannot listen to their version of "Careless Whisper", originally recorded by aforementioned British popsters. So I feel I must share this dreary morning.
